“It was 7:00 at night, far past the time Lexi was expected to be at work. However, as the CEO’s executive assistant, there were always extra things to be done to ensure the CEO’s schedule ran smoothly. Her stomach grumbled, complaining about the lack of food since that morning’s breakfast. Thinking about the leftover Chinese food in her fridge, Lexi gathered her coat and purse, heading towards the exit. Seeing a light on in the CEO’s office through the half-ajar door, Lexi hurried past, hoping to avoid the man. Over the past few weeks, the sexual tension between the two had been off the charts, but Maxon–Mr. Mason–had made it abundantly clear that he did not mix work and pleasure. Now a few feet away from the exit, Lexi cringed as she heard a voice call to her from behind.
‘Lexi, come into my office. I need you.’
